Mervin Rosin Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mervin Harold Rosin, cherished husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.  Mervin passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 62.

Mervin was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on August 18, 1963.  He attended school in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan and graduated Grade 12 in 1981.  Growing up, Mervin enjoyed and excelled in sports such as hockey, baseball and golf.  After graduating, Mervin spent a great deal of time on the farm with Terry and Elwood and their girls, working in the field or the dairy.  He enjoyed working at Langenburg Motors, both in parts and sales, and was able to get to know many people in the community.  Mervin later worked at Nutrien-Rocanville as a mill operator, in load-out, and finally in the warehouse.

Mervin married the love of his life, Twila Geres, on September 11, 1999. They were blessed with two daughters, Sarah (2001) and Avery (2005), who instantly became his whole world. He was very proud of his girls and loved them fiercely.

Mervin was an avid fan of the NFL, especially the New England Patriots, but mostly Tom Brady.  He loved the Edmonton Oilers and was happy to finally attend a game in 2024.  Mervin loved fishing. His boat was his baby and he would always say that driving up to his spot, putting the trolling motor down and getting out the rods was the best part of the day.  A lot of fish were caught in his boat.

Mervin had a sense of humor like no other.  He enjoyed laughing and joking around with Twila, Sarah and Avery, his siblings, nieces, nephews, and coworkers.  There have been many stories told and retold about Mervin, whether he was an instigator or the joke was on him.  He was always there for whoever needed him and knew it was important to look after his own without expecting any thanks or acknowledgement.  He was someone you could count on and go to because he acted with common sense and a level head. In these last weeks, a friend shared, “You can’t get much better than Merv”, which really says everything one needs to know.

Mervin was predeceased by his mother, Mabel (Schutz) Rosin, father Harold Rosin, father-in-law Reinhold Geres, brother-in-law Garry Kirkpatrick, brother-in-law Wayne Tash and sister-in-law Shirley Hume.

Mervin will be greatly missed by his wife, Twila; daughters Sarah (Josh) and Avery; siblings Don (Anita) Rosin, Terry (Elwood) Kotzer, Debbie Rosin, and Shelly Kirkpatrick; mother-in-law Marion Geres; sisters-in-law Cherryl (Warren) Kotzer, Marlene Tash, Jo-Ann (Chad) Erhardt.  Nieces and nephews Christie (Doug) Milne, Joelene (Chris) MItschke, Jaylene (Kelly) Quibell, Ross (Betty) Bjarnason, Cory (Scott) Bjarnason, James Kirkpatrick, Morgan (Justin) Frerot, Ryan Kirkpatrick, Jami (Cory) Andres, Adam (Tara) Tash, Brendan (Lindsay) Tash, Austin (Brittany) Tash, Keagan (Kristina) Erhardt, Samantha Erhardt, Connor (Taylor) Erhardt, and many great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Our gratitude to amazing home care nurses Tina and Chantalle, and the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville. Special thanks to nurse practitioner Cassandra Henry and the staff at Langenburg Care Home for the wonderful care and attention Mervin received during his stay in palliative care. It is hard to find the words to properly thank everyone who helped Mervin and our family through his cancer journey. The kindness we received will never be forgotten.
