It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of our dear sister and friend Vivian Frances Sawa on April 19, 2024. Vivian was the second of seven children born to Joseph and Hedwig (Mitschke) Buchberger. She attended the Hohenlohe school, north of Langenburg, SK. As a young girl she learned to play accordion by ear. Music was always dear to her heart and part of her family growing up. Vivian married Albert Sawa in 1955 and together they had one son, Randy. During her lifetime Vivian lived in many different cities but eventually made Winnipeg her home. There she was employed by the Government of Canada until her retirement. She purchased her first home there and could finally indulge in her love of growing beautiful flowers and gardening. Upon retirement she returned to her hometown of Langenburg to be near family again.
Vivian leaves to mourn her passing a son Randy (Charlene) and three grandchildren; Michele (Tyler) Caldwell, Justin (Harmony), James (Hanelle), and six great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sister Dianne Fischer and four brothers Wally, Ronald (Betty), Gary (John), and Doug (Shelley).
She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Heddie, her sister Elaine VanCaeseele, brother-in-law Jerome VanCaeseele, sister-in-law Carol Buchberger, and stepbrother James Mathies.
“When there comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I will stay there forever.”
