Linda was born on December 18, 1952, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up on a farm near Foxwarren with her parents George and Margery McCrindle, brother Garry, and sister Pat. Linda attended elementary school in Foxwarren, then high school in Birtle. After graduating high school she moved away to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she had three children; Tanya, Jenz, and Neil. She attended Robertson Career College in Winnipeg where she graduated with her Secretarial Diploma in June of 1988. In 1995 Linda was blessed with her first grandchild, Cheyenne, then in the years to follow along came Alexandria, Mckenzie, Jaden, Hailey, Chloe, James, and Liam.
A few years later, Linda moved back to Binscarth where she met the love of her life, Cameron McDonald, at an Old Time Dance in Spy Hill. They married July 11, 1992, at the Foxwarren United Church and moved to the McCrindle Family Farm, where they farmed grain and cleaned seed. In 2012 Cam and Linda sold the farm and settled into a home on the edge of Binscarth.
There are many words that come to mind that could describe Linda, but if we could choose one it would be Generous. Linda was always willing to give all she could and more. No matter what you needed at any time, she was only a phone call away and never hesitated to go above and beyond for anyone in her life – especially her grandchildren. Linda’s love for her grandkids knew no bounds and she never let them forget it. They never left Grandma’s house with empty hands or empty bellies. They have fond memories all throughout life, whether it be swimming and camping at the Binscarth Park and Pool, playing around the yard at the farm, or helping Grandma in the kitchen with canning or baking, they loved every second of it and couldn’t get enough of listening to her stories. Alex remembers having sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa’s and always dragging out bedtime as long as she could, asking for “just one more book, please” because she knew Grandma would read her every story on the shelf. Her particular favorite being Love You Forever by Robert Munsch, Grandma would always cry, but the lines always stuck with her; “Love you forever, like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.”
Linda made many lifelong friends throughout her journey. There weren’t many people she crossed paths with that didn’t become close friends. Whether it was a shared love for all things in the garden and around the yard, swapping baking and canning recipes, a knitting pattern or scrapbook idea, painting ceramics or drawing a picture, she seemed to be able to do it all and was never afraid to take on a new challenge.
We can find comfort in knowing Linda is in heaven with her predeceased grandson, Jaden. Her witty sense of humor and her unwavering love for her friends and family will be dearly missed.
